IT’S THE NEAR FUTURE… AND IT’S A BAD TIME TO BE HUMAN!

2010: Our Hideous Future – The Musical!  is a synthpop-infused, queer friendly musical comedy homage to the great dystopian classics of the 1980s and ‘90s.  Boston-based playwright Carl Danielson brilliantly riffs on classics like Blade Runner, Max Headroom, The Matrix, and Snow Crash, while local songwriter/audio producer Andy Hicks (of The Pluto Tapes) provides delightfully twisted tunes like “(It’s A) Near Futuristic Dystopia!” and “Bangor Boogie”.

The plot follows full-time office manager and part-time hacker Kate Brick as she undergoes a suicide mission to take down the evil MC (Master Computer) who has driven the human race into slavery through oppression, suppression, and Foursquare.  When her young co-worker saves her life from the MC’s henchman, they’re forced to go on the run.  Will they find true love together, or are things just so bloody terrible that there pretty much has to be a horrible, hideous twist ending of some sort...?  Possibly?

Using the space at Oberon to their full advantage, the cast and crew have added more dancing, more multimedia elements, and more music to this thrilling night of live theater and music.  With amazing music, hilarious dialogue, and surprises of all kinds, it’s the perfect show for geeks and non-geeks alike!
