The Challenge
A regional healthcare network with primary care and specialty clinics faced high patient anxiety scores and low recall of their brand differentiation versus hospital systems. Their phone system relied on generic hold music and impersonal prompts, and their digital patient portal had no audio identity to speak of.
The Solution
Audio Hooks Studio developed a calming, reassuring sonic identity grounded in acoustic research on anxiety reduction. A sonic logo, on-hold music suite, and portal UI sounds were delivered with explicit guidelines for appropriate clinical environments. Messaging scripts for the on-hold experience were co-developed to reinforce care quality and patient resources.
The Results
Patient-reported anxiety scores at intake dropped 8 points on average across three pilot clinics. Hold abandonment on appointment scheduling lines fell 27%. Brand recall in post-visit surveys increased 34%, with patients more frequently able to name the practice group unprompted compared to a baseline survey conducted before the audio rebrand.
